ss - slip stitch (poke into the stitch yarn over and pull the first loop through the second loop).

ch - chain (yarn over and pull through the loop already on the hook)

inc - increase (2 sc into the same stitch)

dec - decrease (go up the front and into the front loop of the first stitch and up the front and into the front loop of the second stitch and then yarn over and pull back through both loops and then yarn over and go through both loops)
