Teddy Bear Pattern

Yummy Chenille - Teddy, fudge and black

Fibre fill / toy stuffing

Pattern notes:

This pattern uses US terms

MR - Magic Ring

sc - single crochet (poke into the stitch, pull some yarn back through the stitch, yarn over and pull through both loops.

ss - slip stitch (poke into the stitch yarn over and pull the first loop through the second loop).

ch - chain (yarn over and pull through the loop already on the hook)

inc - increase (2 sc into the same stitch)

dec - decrease (go up the front and into the front loop of the first stitch and up the front and into the front loop of the second stitch and then yarn over and pull back through both loops and then yarn over and go through both loops)

() with numbers in at the end is how many stitches you should have.

The teddybears legs (make 2)

Make a magic ring (or chain 4, slip stitch to join)

Round 1: (sc) x 8, sl st to join    (8)

Round 2: (inc) x 8, sl st to join   (16)

Fasten off

Change Colour - Now working in continuous rounds

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 7, sc, sc, and sc into chain from colour change  (24)

Round 4, 5 and 6: (sc) x 24 (24)

Round 7: (dec) x 6, (sc) x 12    (18)

Round 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17: (sc) x 18    (18)

Round 18: (dec) x 9 (9)

Stuff the leg

Round 19: (sc) x 1, then fold in half and sc x 4 through both sides.

 

The teddybears arms (make 2)

Make a magic ring (or chain 4, slip stitch to join)

Round 1: (sc) x 6 (6)

Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Round 4, 5 and 6: (sc) x 18 (18)

Round 7: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)

Round 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17: (sc) x 12 (12)

Stuff the arm

Then fold it in half and sc x 6 through both sides.

 

The teddybears ears (make 2)

Make a magic ring (or chain 4, slip stitch to join)

Round 1: (sc) x 6 (6)

Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Round 4 and 5: (sc) x 18

Then fold it in half and sc x 9 through both sides.

Fasten off - leaving a long tail for sewing

 

The teddybears muzzle (use the same colour as you did for the bottom of the foot)

Make a magic ring (or chain 4, slip stitch to join)

Round 1: (sc) x 6 (6)

Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Round 4 in BLO: (sc) x 18 (18)

Round 5: (sc) x 18 (18)

sl st and Fasten off

Embroider nose and mouth on.

 

The teddybears body and head

Make a magic ring (or chain 4, slip stitch to join)

Round 1: (sc) x 8 (8)

Round 2: (inc) x 8 (16)

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 8 (24)

Round 4: (inc, (sc) x 2) x 8 (32)

Round 5: ((sc) x 3, inc) x 8 (40)

Round 6: (sc) x 40

Round 7: (inc, (sc) x 4) x 8 (48)

Round 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15: (sc) x 48 (48)

Round 16: (sc) x 8 (place a stitch marker here to help place the arms), ((sc) x 2, dec) x 8 (place a stitch marker here to help place the arms), (sc) x 8 (40)

Round 17: (sc) x 40 (40)

Round 18: ((sc) x 8, dec) x 4 (36)

Round 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23: (sc) x 36 (36)

Round 24: ((sc) x 4, dec) x 6 (30)

On the next round we will attach the arms

Round 25: (sc) x 8, (sc) x 6 through arm and then body at the same time, (sc) x 8, (sc) x 6 through arm and then body at the same time, (sc) x 2 (30)

(ensure that the arms sit just in front of both of the stitch markers.

Round 26: ((sc) x 3, dec) x 6 (24)

Round 27: (sc) x 24 (24)

Round 28: ((sc) x 2, dec) x 6 (18)

Stuff

Now sew the legs on to the bottom of the body making sure that they face towards the fat tummy.

Now we are going to start the head

Round 29: ((sc) x 2, inc) x 6 (24)

Round 30: ((sc) x 3, inc) x 6 (30)

Round 31: ((sc) x 4, inc) x 6 (36)

Round 32: (sc) x 36 (36)

Round 33: ((sc) x 5, inc) x 6 (42)

Round 34 and 35: (sc) x 42 (42)

Round 36: ((sc) x 6, inc) x 6 (48)

Round 37 and 38: (sc) x 48 (48)

Attach muzzle to face - I find it easier to sew it on before it is stuffed

Round 39: ((sc) x 6, dec) x 6 (42)

Insert eyes between rounds 37 and 38, just above muzzle 5 or 6 stitches apart

Round 40: (sc) x 42 (42)

Begin stuffing head

Round 41: ((sc) x 5, dec) x 6 (36)

Round 42: ((sc) x 4, dec) x 6 (30)

Round 43: ((sc) x 3, dec) x 6 (24)

Round 44: ((sc) x 2, dec) x 6 (18)

Continue stuffing head until it is nice and firm.

Round 45: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)

Round 46: (dec) x 6 (6)

Cut yarn and use tail to to tighten hole - weave in and out of stitches.

Hide yarn tail in body once secure.

Attach ears on to head using the yarn tail that was left.
